Life is moving on and now more than eight months have passed since the World Health Organization declared Covid-19 a pandemic. We are adapting the new normal in every aspect of life. Covid-19 has reshaped our world and same with work life, which is now WFH.
I also work from home and when we work from home, there is a blur line between workspace
and personal space. I was on my laptop checking mails when the sobbing voice from the kitchen distracted my concentration. I left the work to peep into the kitchen.
My house help was training her 8 years old Sumi, about how to clean the utensils, while Sumi was holding a picture book and resisting to follow her.
I was shocked and upset to see this. Looking at my gesture and expression, she said,” kya karoon? Schools are closed, and her father has also started going out. If she will learn now, she will be trained in few years. I was distressed to hear this.
I gave her the solution that while I work, she will sit with me and will teach her in between. This is a small incident and a small help towards the society but if we all plan for it, we can change lives of many Deepa and Sumi. At the end of the day it’s not about what you’ve accomplished or what you have gained. It is about, who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve you supported. It’s about what you’ve given back to your society and done something for the future of Nation, the children.” I too took the initiative and now, daily I am managing to teach 8-9 kids who can’t afford to have devices.
For the welfare of the future of Nation on 20th November, we celebrate World Children’s Day.
Celebrating any day is, to give a reminder, a knock- knock to the society, as important days are not the celebration of one day, it is a day to know, to make everyone aware that we need to take charge, we need to work on this constantly.
World Children’s Day was first established in 1954 as Universal Children's Day which is celebrated to promote international bonding, togetherness and awareness among children globally, and improving children’s welfare worldwide.
World Children’s Day is also an annual day of accomplishment for the children and by the
children of UNICEF. At this crucial time Teachers too have gone above and beyond to support their students and to facilitate them keep learning and engaging them by whatever means possible to fulfill their potential.
Overall the focus is on who are the children, what are their rights and the responsibilities of governments. This day also validate that all rights are connected and cannot be taken away from children.
This year due to Corona the campaign to GoBlue will be carried by UNICEF to commemorate this special day Monuments across the country the Rashtrapati Bhavan (Presidential Palace), Prime Minister’s Office, and other historical buildings, and key government buildings across the India will GoBlue on November 20, standing in harmony for child rights and the impact of COVID-19 on their lives..
Lets us join our hand at this difficult time as there’s no place to look for that glimmer of hope than in the eyes of a child.
