When our world turned Black- World Disabled Day
“I don’t have a dis-ability, I have a different-ability.” –Robert M. Hensel
I have seen it, I experienced it, I sensed it……the ache, the grieve, which shattered him.
He was 60, when he got to know that retina for both his eyes had detached due to cataract operation as checking of retina was not suggested by Doctors.
He was a scholar, an erudite, a philanthropist, he was an avid reader, I could smell the books when he is around.
It was inconsolable when his world turned black within few years. I could feel the emotional, psychological, and physical distress. He was so keen to know about computers, internet and started learning it.
He requested me to paste two pulse beans on pick up and disconnect, buttons of phone to identify that. He started taking tuitions of English as verses and authors were on his tips.
I was part of his dark journey and knew how desperate he was to get out of darkness, he got dementia and was always expressed restless to take him out from deep well as he started thinking he is in. I was helpless.
He was my father .Miss you Dad, thank you for teaching us the resilience and patience.
Be with them, hear to them, talk to them. It is never their choice to being dis-able.
