The central government has geared up leaving no stone unturned to provide a dose …..dose for life. Now the wait is over for many as drive has rolled out across the country covering 3352 sessions in a day. We hope it is proved to be the final
blow against Covid-19. The day will be marked and battle with disease will be a history.
I was near one of the vaccination centers, where many were full of excitement and others had apprehension about the side effects of vaccination and the talk of the town was a phrase – After you.
In the first phase the faces that fought fearlessly were in forefront. Still many of us are reluctant or hesitant to get vaccinated for COVID-19. One reason can be that infections have fallen sharply and people are worried about possible side-effects too. In all it appears that some of the key reasons for the hesitancy or reluctance are limited information about side-effects, efficacy levels and people have a belief that their high immunity is enough to protect them against Covid.
We all know that vaccine hesitancy continues to be a huge challenge for India. In fact trust is inherent in healthcare and is an essential component to make everyone believe in vaccination. The aggregate percentage of responses shows that Indians still will not rush to take the vaccine even if it is available. Despite rolling out of vaccination health interventions, there has always been a parallel movement against vaccines. We hope with the results coming out soon, fear will subside.
