Every person needs meditation. Praying or doing puja is similar to meditation. One must have a separate place/room or corner in their homes. This place must be clean and free from clutter so that one can do puja/meditation freely, peacefully without any distractions.
Moreover, This place should not have heavy furniture. Vaastu Shastra defines some principles for directions of puja room / prayer room. Whereas, I have mentioned here few Vaastu Shastra Tips for puja/prayer room.
Tips
The puja room should be situated in the north, east or north-east and One should face towards east, north or north-east while praying.
As per Indian mythology there should not be idols in the prayer room. But if one want to have, make sure the height of the idol should not be more than 9″and less than 2″. Keeping pics of Deity is advisable.
There should not be any cabinet or slab above the God’s idol is placed. Also A Puja/Prayer room should never be made in a Bedroom or on a wall adjacent to the Bathroom wall.
The color of walls in this room should be white, lemon or light blue and the marble used should be white. Secondly, The worship room should have doors and windows in the north or the east. One thing more, which must be taken care of, Lamp should be placed in the Southeast corner of the puja/prayer room.
