365, Thank you!
I am Chessy 53 now dealing with midlife crisis, serving coffee in a restaurant from years where our owner used to visit once in 6 months, despite he, had the chain of restaurants across the globe. That was the day when he walked into for his regular visits, I was the one always preparing his favorite usual drink, but hardly coming out to serve it.
Christmas was right around the corner, and I was occupied with customers. Unexpectedly he came to the kitchen and said hey! Chessy, I missed your coffee today. I was wondering that he knows my name. I was at the stage where I started telling myself that life is over now, and I didn’t really have anything to be grateful for.
My colleagues were young, energetic, even I was not getting cold shoulder from them but I felt disconnected always. Those few words changed my perspective towards life.
All of us face this situation one or other day. You are not attentive, an underachiever, a slow learner, not focused, not punctual……labeling is so easy, right? But it hampers the work and efficacy.
Objective, Targets, Goals, Turnovers, workload and management decisions are routine words for any business but take some time out, make extra effort to appreciate your employees’ effort and dedication.
It has proved that feeling appreciated increases morale, improves engagement and reduces stress.
No need to be grateful for any material things. Value your actual asset that is your employee. Take a minute now and think about what you are grateful for today. If you are the boss this right time to value your assets.
The Behavior that gets rewarded gets repeated.
