Reboot Education
This year the theme of International Day of Education is “Recover and Revitalize Education for the COVID-19 Generation”, by spreading learning in all contexts to fulfill potential of all learners. In the wake of the Pandemic which has ushered to a global learning disruption of unprecedented range and severity, It is a time to commemorate the role of education for peace, progress and development.
When the pandemic at one hand is disrupting the Education sector, on the other hand number of terms and techniques have emerged and being adapted as a part of education system as they have the potential to improve student outcomes and school operations for the long term.
It has delineated that we need to design an education system that is forward-looking, embedded with artificial intelligence and infused with digital age education, which prepare the future of tomorrow for uncertainty and promote agility and adaptability.
The key need to thrive is lifelong learning to make available uninterrupted education as part of future classroom education. Blended Learning: It represents a learning model that combines both formal (traditional classroom) and non-formal (digital learning) and facilitates methodologies where content can be accessed from anywhere, anytime, on any device which further increase user engagement through the combination of multimedia and instructional designing of classrooms teaching.
Personalized Learning
Another way is to implement a customized learning program which gives all of them the ability to learn at their own pace, and in the way that’s best for them. Customizing the learning experience and tailoring that to each student means and providing information according to their speed of understanding.
STEAM Curriculum
We know About STEM where as STEAM is a redefined approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics as an integrated approach of learning and teaching. It is a multidisciplinary approach providing students a plethora of options across the streams.
Digital Citizenship
Digital Citizenship refers to the responsible use of technology by anyone or everyone. During Covid this digital citizenship was heart of education system. The term is coined to define the ability to use technology and the Internet both effectively, aptly and appropriately to augment knowledge as the time has brought all of us on the same digital platform, where students need the skills to develop a healthy relationship with digital media.
Bite Sized Learning
Concept behind bite sized learning is to find a solution to a single problem just when it is required. Bite sized modules provide fluff free, lean idea about one topic at a time that determine the ONE learning outcome or one goal you wish to achieve.
Gamification
Learning through games, it is a trend which can change the way to be taught, when blended in Education. A concept of applying game design thinking to non game application make the content more fun and engaging further resolve several common classroom concerns such as: student participation, their engagement, and increases student achievement.
Experiential Learning
Experiential Learning is basically learning through experiencing, which is a practical approach and application of knowledge to real-world experiences and develop competence in skills and behaviors.
In fact next 12-24 months are an opportunity to rethink/redo/rewire to serve the intent of UNESCO on this International Day of Education.
